We went to one place where there were elephant seals basking on the beach with pups all round them - some of them play-fighting etc... But they were too far away to make out the elephanty snout.
The highlight of the day was seeing sealions. This colony is famous for being prey to Orcas, who come up onto the beach and attack. It's prime season for this behaviour, but very rare anyhow. We had very confused feelings - loving these wonderful cute little pups gambolling around, but half hoping for a great big Orca to snaffle them up.
You may be pleased to hear, no Orcas showed up.
We met this cute armadillo in the carpark that kept charging at us on little stumpy legs...
Next stop is a day trip through Neuquén to indulge Frank's passion for dinosaurs. After that, Bariloche, hopefully with another good-length hike around the area.
Hope you're all doing well.
Franky and Em

Parece que estais a ter umas férias maravilhosas. Que bom!
ReplyDeleteIdes para o Chile depois de Bariloche, ou ainda explorais mais a Argentina?
Um beijinho, e que tudo vos corra muito bem. X X X
There's an Englishman, and Irishman and an orca go into a pub... and says "how many orcas does it take to change a light bulb?" can't remember the end of that one...
ReplyDeleteGreat picture here - Em, is that a 'Man from UNCLE' T you've got on? Looks like Monty would have some fun with the fella in the foreground... x x
Having got Dom competing with cavemen in the comedy stakes you need to post a recording of a Patagonian folksinger who riffs as well as Jackie Leven. The soundtrack on the penguin video suggests you're the natural successor to Attenborough. Keep them coming: it's nearly as good as being there. Love, Rick
ReplyDelete@Isabel Maria:

@Dom: The punchline is ´...but the orca didn´t seem to mind.´
ReplyDeleteNo, it´s a rather self-referential Catch-22 t-shirt. Monty would be running for the trees at the sight of this snuffly little critter. How´s hipsters gumsters going?
Thankums thankums... xxx
@Rick:
ReplyDeleteI´m sure Jackie Leven will take in Patagonia in his next tour - next stop after the Portland Arms.
Frank was pleased with the Attenborough comparison and we´ll certainly keep the cameras rolling.
Hope you and Mum (and Monty) are all well and happy! XXX
